About the Company: dearjohnnies was envisioned in 2003 and put into action in 2005 when creator, Rachel, wanted more than the “drab, used, one size fits all, gray gown” that you typically get when admitted at the hospital. She didn’t want this to be in her pictures of those first moments with her children. By 2007 they had a complete line of gowns and robes. The gowns are for any hospital patient, not just a nursing mother.
Dear Johnnies lives by the quote “when you look better, you feel better”. I couldn’t agree more. Even more, it’s always nice to be complimented as well, and let’s face it, during labor and the next few days that you are in the hospital, you want (need) all the compliments you can get. I was so excited to be able to review dearjohnnies. When it arrived in it’s little package I was in love. I absolutely love this pattern and many of the other patterns they have on their site.
Because I only had one gown, I waited to put it on until I was able to take a shower after delivery. It was so nice to be able to put this on after delivering Next time, I will be sure to have one during delivery and for afterwards.
I received amazing compliments from everyone that walked into our room about how nice my gown looked. I felt very comfortable and it was also a lot thicker and more durable than the flimsy, drab hospital gowns that you typically get when delivering.
I was beyond thrilled to be able to have a chic looking gown for the pictures we have taken during our hospital stay as well. I know they made my pictures come out so much nicer than they would have otherwise.

some slippers and a pillow from home may make me a little more comfortable
I think next time around I will bring my nursing pillow with me to help make me more comfortable
I like Ava – it's so bright!
Earplugs are a must at the hospital – with a toddler at home the chance of sleep is fleeting!
Definitely my nursing pillow and ipod
I like Morgan
Slippers are a big one for me, but I like having a few blankets from home just for piece of mind.
JJ Caraway said….

My pillow, robe and slippers.
Extra pillows, something comfy like a gown and robe (god forbid someone other than staff catches you in the ugly hospital gowns!!!), books books books!
pillows , spare clothes and flip flops, socks, snacks, phone charger and phone, my own shampoo and conditioner
My pillow from home, my grippy socks, and my Philosophy facial cleanser help me feel a little more like myself in an environment where that feels impossible. I bring that cleanser everywhere! I'm a freelance photographer who travels the globe, sometimes alone. Having a reminder that at least a few things are the same as they would be at home keeps me calm and focused.
I really liked having my own pillow and some comforts like my lip gloss and yoga pants. Its hard to feel comfortable in a hospital when you give birth when everything is so…. 'hospital feeling."
Chap Stick! My lips dried out so bad. Also my own comfy nightgown and slipper socks. The socks they gave me didn't really have a "top" or "bottom" so they kept turning around and slipping off. I only wore them for a few minutes.
I loved the staff of nurses at the hospital I delivered at. They made my stay very relaxing. I think the things I realized I loved having the most and needing were shampoo and conditioner, my razor to shave my legs (finally!!), and this house robe the hospital supplied. I felt less naked and exposed with that since the gown opened in the back.
The people around, the staff, family and friends. I would have loved to have my own gown, but didn't buy one before the delivery.
I had to have my own robe and slippers
my own pillow
Slippers comfy blanket
I wish I had brought my own nightgowns and bathrobe with slippers… now I know for next time!!
My own clothes after delivery! 🙂
