We have been doing Baby-Led Weaning ever since Baby Skibbles was ready to eat solid foods (6 months is the recommended age according to the AAp, WHO, & CDC). because we had done out research we knew there were some things she shouldn’t have and things she should be limited to having. One of those being grains. The problem is, this mama right here loves carbs and I wanted some pancakes. I remember someone telling me to mash a banana and add eggs but I thought they were crazy; however, desperate times call for desperate measures, so I decided to give it a shot!
Start by mushing completely one whole banana. Next, add in two eggs with yolks and beat them with the banana until you have a liquid-y batter. Finally, add a teaspoon of cinnamon into the batter.
Next drop spoonfuls onto a greased (we use coconut oil) skillet. When I say spoonfuls, think small Micky Mouse pancakes or silver dollar pancakes as I’ve seen them called. There is nothing really binding these together so they are much harder to flip than a normal pancakes. About 2 minutes on each side.
Cut them up and serve! That’s it! Baby Skibbles loved every minute of it! I must admit I ate them too and they are really sweet, but amazingly yummy! Give it a try!

What’s yours or your child(ren)’s favorite breakfast?

Interesting. We are BLW too, and I have never heard no grains. I have heard no eggs (at least yolks) until 1 year though.
I've heard only certain grains at specific ages. I guess every pediatrician has different guidelines she follows. Mine also says no egg whites until a year so one of our favorite breakfasts is an egg-yolk omelette with shredded veggies in it.
Nice recipe–and adorable photo!
My little one loves raspberries and yogurt for breakfast!
Hi ladies :)
Some doctors recommend no egg whites before a year because it is high on the allergen list. However, if there is no family history of allergies there's not a reason not too.

***I'm not a medical professional; please contact your pediatrician for medical advice.

Robin–our girl loves raspberries and yogurt too!
I wish I know how to make these when my grandchildren were babies. They would have loved them. They sound so yummy and healthy.
Will have to remember this one for when my LO is old enough. Looks Yummy!
Yum! Looks good! How old was your little one when you made the pancakes? Our little one has always wanted finger foods and really never took to eating anything puree, so we are always looking for new foods to try!
She was 8 months the first time, but if you are not concerned about egg allergies, there is no reason not to give anytime after starting solids when you are ready! We had eggs around 7 1/2 months 😉 (we started solids at 6 months)
Perfect! Thank you! She has tried eggs (although she isn't a fan–I think it's the texture). We will have to try these soon! 🙂
Omg this is an awesome idea. Thank you we will try this 🙂
Oh yum! these seem perfect. I really need to try to make this for next baby 🙂 I did BLW with my son and it worked great, however, I am always on the look out for fun new recipes for when baby #2 is ready 🙂 Thanks a lot for sharing.
We'll have to try this! Grains seem to constipate my little man
I make these all the time for our whole family (we eat Paleo and call them Paleo Pancakes). I use one banana, one egg, and one tablespoon of almond butter per serving. They flip easier if you wait until they are REALLY cooked on that first side and use really ripe bananas. 🙂
Thanks!
id like to try these for the grandbabies,I think they would love them
I have to eat grain free and so do my 2 granddaughters. These look easy to make and sound tasty to eat. Thanks.
My daughter has also said she wishes to try baby led weaning (as a NICU nurse I was well versed on baby led latch so I figured OK we'll give it a try ) we have a couple of months yet so I have been reading and was glad to find your blog!! I have my doubts as you did but perhaps he will be eating these banana pancakes for thanksgiving although we usually have pumpkin pancakes for breakfast on
So glad you found us! Pumpkin would be perfect!! Babyled weaning is amazing! Definitely get the books!
I plan to EBF for the first 6 months and then start on real foods. I also plan to avoid grains for the first year. Thanks for this recipe!
I love this recipe! I am always looking for new simple ideas for my daughter to use for my granddaughter. She loves eggs, she loves bananas and she loves pancakes…this is perfect and easy for a working mom. Yum! Thank you. Running to pinterest so my daughter can get the recipe asap!
this is a great ideal…i'm going to try it..hope my princess like it.
I will have to try this my son is just plain and simply picky
So darn cute. I love the photos and the recipe. We are going to start eating some cooked apples with cinnamon for breakfast when it gets cold again.
My child loves bananas!
Real food is a special moment for baby, and choosing something healthy is ideal.
HOw awesome! Thanks for sharing. I love making my babies food from scratch. I feel like there are no harmful preservatives, etc. this way! Thank you!
This is great. I'll probably avoid eggs until at least 1, just because my first child has multiple serious food allergies, including milk.
What a wonderful recipe. I hope to be able to make this one day. Right now though both my daughters get terrible constipation when they eat bananas. So as of right now we have boycotted bananas in the house.
great recipe and so easy thanks
I had a friend make these once and she said that she felt that they were just caramelized/fried bananas. The kids didnt like them either so it was the first and last time she made them. Do you think she did something wrong? I mean it's kinda hard to mess up a 2 ingredient recipe but who knows. I havent tried them because of her experience making them.
Hmm, I'm not sure what she could have done, but I wouldn't say these were like that at all! Definitely more than just a fried banana! With only two ingredients, I say try for yourself, you really can't go wrong!
I will try this for my daughter who is sensitive to wheat.
They look great! I can't wait to try them!!
This recipe looks great to try. I have always wanted to try a no grain pancake. I will definitely do it when my little when starts eating food.
My babies favorite breakfast is cottage cheese, mashed with graham crackers and banana!
wow! These look delish and I'm sure our kids would love them! Our toddler loves bananas so this would be a great way to give them to him!
I can't say I was looking for a grain-free pancake recipe, but after seeing how easy these are I really want to try them!
These look really good. My daughter loves pancakes so I will have to give this a try.
This sounds delicious, I love that you add cinnamon in it, too! Thanks for sharing!
This is an awesome recipe! i never wouldve thought this would work but they look yummy. I know my daughter would love these.
this is awesome!!!! great snack or breakfast for baby! I will def try once my lil man starts eating solid foods
will definitely try this 😉 sound yummy to me and healthy, thanks for share @tisonlyme143
I think I'll try these with my little grandson in the morning. We try to keep it healthy around here. It is really hard these days. This little fella has no favorite food. He's a big baby and will eat anything.
