Ebates & Shop At Home…Save Money Internet Shopping

August 6, 2012 by Larisha Campbell 1 Comment

I know I haven’t posted about any money saving tips in awhile, so I apologize.  I’m going to make up for it by telling you about one of the best kept secrets on the internet….Cash Back Shopping Savings.

If you haven’t heard about Ebates or Shop At Home by now, you are tremendously missing out!  Both services offer cash back simply for shopping online.  I found out about them around Christmas and now I don’t do any shopping without checking with one of these sites first. They both have their pros/cons and I’m going to outline them below.

Both sites offer free sign up and up to 25% cash back at your favorite on-line retailers. Both sites also allow the use of additional coupons.  The cash back total is figured up after you have made your purchase, so any coupons used during your purchase are allowed.

TIP #1 :  Only once have I had a problem with a purchase not showing up and it was through Ebates.  I contacted their customer service department and they quickly solved the problem and issued my reward.  I have no complaints about either of these companies.

Ebates:
Pros: Issues a check as soon as you hit $5.01 during the scheduled purchase periods. Payments can be issues in the form of PayPal or Check, or you can even donate to charity.

Cons: Doesn’t offer as many sites as Shop At Home

Shop At Home:
Pros: More sites are offered, even if cash back is not offered, coupons are
listed for more retailers.

Cons: You have to reach $20 during the promotional periods in order to receive you checks.

Tip #2:  Each site offers their own cash back rewards at different times, so its very beneficial for you to check with each site to see if one if offering a bigger advantage to shopping with them at the time.

I’ll admit, I don’t do a ton of on-line shopping, however, I do enough that both of these sites have been rewarding for me.  Even if it takes a year for you to earn enough to qualify for a check during their purchasing periods, it’s still free money in your pocket that you wouldn’t have otherwise.
