Growing up, I knew five different hair styles – straight, curlers to make it curly, messy bun, regular braid, and ponytail. My mom did the occasional French braid and there was lots of teasing and hairspray, but my extend of hair knowledge is pretty non-existent to this day. I swore I wanted boys just so I didn’t have to worry about hair. Low and behold, I have two girls. Go figure, right?
I have managed to squeak by for three years with minimal maintenance. Over the past few month though, Skibbles hair went into overdrive. Just a couple weeks ago, I found myself asking where in the world did all this hair come from? I knew it was time that we needed to start doing more with it. Spring is just a few weeks away, which means I can’t just cover her hair up with a hat! We need cute dos!
She has always been super sensitive and doesn’t really like her hair being brushed, so I was hoping that a nice day out shopping for new things would do the trick. I told her we were going to head over to Target and she was going to get a new brush and then I would let her pick out lots of new hair things. I showed her the Goody hair items on Target’s website and she started picking out things immediately. We got ready and jumped in the car all excited to see what we could find.
Once we were there she got to pick between the pick and purple Goody Ouchless Girls Oval Brush. She picked pink! Then, I showed her all the different hair accessories that she could pick from. She immediately grabbed an adorable pink headband with a flower. I grabbed some Goody Ouchless elastics because they get 10x more uses than other leading brands and then she also grabbed some clips and bows.
Once we were home I started practicing on her hair. She’s only 3, and has the attention span of a butterfly, so I knew that I needed to find a few adorable, but super simple ideas that would look great for Spring! I was blown away that she didn’t say ouch at all when using the Goody Ouchless Girls Oval brush. It gently brushed out her hair without any tears (from her or me!)
The three easy hairstyles for girls that we went with were:
*The Side Sweep – part hair on side opposite of where bow will go. On opposite side gather a small piece of hair and pull it back with a small Goody bow. Tuck hair on each side behind ears and pull just a bit in front.
*The Side Ponytail with a Headband – Pull all hair back and slightly to the right. Tie up with a . Then add a headband to the front of the ponytail with the flower covering the side where you see the ponytail elastic hair tie.
*The Flip Tail – This is the “hardest” one of the three but is still insanely easy. Pull hair back into a normal ponytail. Slide Goody Ouchless Elastic down two inches. Then using your finger, make a hold in the middle above the elastic tie and flip the ponytail up and through the hole. Using Goody clips, pull back and hair that is loose at the top or just to add some cute color.
That’s it! Three super cute and easy girls hairstyles in under 5 minutes for you to try this Spring. We have already decided that we will do the flip tail for Easter.
