Summer Infant Fairfield 3pc Nursery Furniture Set Review

August 2, 2012 by Larisha Campbell 15 Comments

I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed when I didn’t get one single piece of nursery furniture at my baby shower. I had the most gorgeous set picked out and on my registry. When we got home we had a long discussion and we knew that we couldn’t afford the $1000+ that it would cost us to buy everything that we wanted. So we had to do some searching…

I was completely shocked when I found this beautiful nursery furniture set by Summer’s Infant at Walmart. I admit I had to read the description about 5 times to make sure that I was understanding correctly that all 3 pieces, the crib, dresser, and changing table, were all only $250.
I asked Andrew if he liked it and he said yes. We were both skeptical about the quality, but figured we had nothing to loose by trying it.
I’m happy to say that we are beyond thrilled with our purchase.

Summer’s Infant prides themselves on providing “The safest and most reliable products on the market.” They have been in business for the last 26 years and the company is named after the founder’s daughter. They are dedicated to building the “safest and most innovative products that stand the test of time”.

All three pieces came in 2 boxes. After Andrew took everything out of the boxes he began to look over the instructions. (I’m happy to say that he is one of the few men that will read instructions!!) He commented on how well written they were and that it seemed like everything was going to be pretty easy to put together.

He started with the crib and then worked on the changing table and dresser. He said the dresser was the hardest thing to put together. And his only complaint the entire time was that while putting the back on the dresser if you over screw the back on, the wood bows a little.

After a few hours, everything was nicely put together and we couldn’t be happier. We don’t have our bedding yet, so I can’t show a completed picture, but the furniture itself looks just like the one we saw on-line, if not better. We can’t wait to use it all once our little one arrives!

I can't wait to see how it all comes together! Did you give the crib a good shake? Is it sturdy without wobbling? Cece
www.pinchtogrowaninch.com

Thanks Cece!! Everything was given full shakes before we added anything!! Andrew is very cautious so I'm pretty sure if we had the mattress already he would have tried to test it out himself!!

      Hi Sunny!
Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact box measurements, but I know the bigger of the two boxes was the size of the sides on the crib which I just measured at 56 inches. The width of the box was about 15 inches. Hope that helps!!

      Hi Ginette!
I haven't tried to find or buy that yet, but I remember seeing a phone number in our instruction manual for ordering. Would you like me to get that for you?

It is a very dark brown color. I believe you can easily tell it's brown, but it is very dark. The instructions in the booklet say "An optional daybed/toddler bed conversion kit can be purchased at your local Walmart furniture retailer. Call our toll free number for more information 1.888.443.9876, or visit http://www.walmart.com"

I cannot find anywhere on wal-mart.com where

Thank you so much for all of the info. I really like the set and want to purchase it but I wanted to get as much information on it as possible.

I purchased a black-brown wardrobe from IKEA for my LO nursery and needed a crib that would come as close to that color as possible. I did look on http://www.walmart.com for the conversion kit but they don't have it. I'll call Summer Infant

No problem! Glad to help! I have a black brown dresser from Ikea in the same room and you don't tell much of a difference in color 🙂 I'd love to know what they say about the conversion kit. I didn't think about ordering it this soon, but I guess it would be good to have early!

I'm so excited to find you and hope you can help me! I want to hang a chair rail a few inches higher than the back of the crib but can't find dimensions anywhere. Can you tell me how tall the back is please? I'm planning on purchasing this set in the next few weeks for baby boy due in May and want the chair rail and paint done beforehand. Thanks a million and congrats on your new baby

I've had this crib for a while now and it's still holding up well but I've also been searching for the conversion kit. My LO is almost 18 months and is very tall for her age so I'm wanting to convert it but I'd like the kit that matches so it still looks nice in her room. I'm definitely going to try the number, that information was a giant leap in my search. Thank you!
