Gymboree Play & Music Birthday Party Review

January 17, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 1 Comment

About the company: Gymboree Play & Music was began in 1976 when a mom from California was unable to find the safe fun place that offered activities for her children to play.  Therefore, she started her own program and they’ve been inspiring children every since! Today, Gymboree Play & Music has over 550 location in over 30 different countries and is the global leader in classes for children. They feature age-appropriate activities, designed by experts, they help children 0-5 years old develop cognitive, physical, and social skills.  Parents are even encouraged to participate.

A few months ago, I had started searching for the perfect location for Baby Skibbles First Birthday Party when someone told me to look into Gymboree. My immediate reaction was, “the clothing store?” She then informed me that the same company also has Gymboree Play & Music and she said it would be perfect.  Then, my sister-in-law was talking one day about how they take my niece to these Gymboree classes. I decided to look into it and was blown away by the immediate first impression just off the website.

We reached out to Gymboree and discussed our options for having our party there.  They actually specialize in 1st birthday parties so we knew it would be the perfect location from the moment we had our first phone conversation.  We held our party at their Admore, PA location. Each party is private and personalized.  There is zero set up or clean up (unless you have something specific that you want). While themes vary by location some examples are Super Heroes, Princesses, Sports, Ocean Adventure, Farmyard Fun and many more! They specialize in parties from one to five years old.

Party Packages will vary by location and may include:

  • Exclusive use of the facility for 1 ½ hours or more
  • A trained, enthusiastic Gymboree teacher
  • Locations may accomodate up to 20 children, 0 to 5 years, each accompanied by an adult
  • All party supplies (plates, cups, napkins, spoons, candles, balloons)
  • Gymboree party invitations
  • A special gift for the birthday child
  • Take home gift bags for all guests

I was absolutely blown away by our Gymboree birthday party! It was literally, not only the most fun I have had in a long time, but it was the absolute best time for the baby and her friends as well. Our Gymboree teacher, Penny, was absolutely amazing. Beyond amazing, honestly.  She was engaging and excited the entire time which made us feel welcomed and at home even though we weren’t.

One of the best things about the entire process is that it’s not just a kid’s party.  The adults are encouraged and willingly participate in each activity! I loved seeing Baby Skibble’s face as we played together and completed each of the activities.
Even the “big kids” had a little too much fun!

One of the best things for all the children (and again, yes, the adults!) was a giant bucket of maracas. Penny dumped them out and the kids went crazy!  They sang and danced and jumped all around!

Slides, activity gyms, giant balls, tunnels, and more, it was the best birthday party I have been to for a child.

Two activities stuck out for us more than any other.  A giant parachute and bubbles!  The parachute reminded me of my childhood so it was great seeing my daughter have just as much fun. The bubbles were a blast.  These weren’t your typical bubbles.  They lasted forever and didn’t pop when they hit the ground.  Penny’s assistant had this amazing bubble blower that shot out hundreds of bubbles at once. The children all went crazy for them!  It was a blast.

Finally, it was time to end with birthday cake!  Gymboree provided the juice boxes, utensils, and even set up everything! I love that I didn’t have to worry about cleaning up the mess!

Constant music, fun, entertainment, and a warm and inviting experience set Gymboree Play & Music apart from anything I could have ever imagined.  We can’t thank Gymboree enough for the amazing experience!

Gymboree isn’t only about birthday parties, they also specialize in mom’s play groups, summer celebrations, pajama parties, family reunions with little ones, pumpkin patch party, and many more ideas. They also offer play classes from birth to five years old like art classes, sports classes, music classes and more!  Find a location to your local Gymboree Play & Music to get started today!
