It’s almost BBQ season and I know every year I’m always looking for new recipes and new creations to make when we have people over or just for ourselves to enjoy on the grill for dinner. It’s fun making new things and experimenting with fresh herbs and vegetables.
We want to welcome you to our On-Line Block Party, hosted by Open Hands. Here you will find several other great bloggers to bring you ideas that will make your summer BBQ or Block Party a huge success. Of course, we have a fabulous giveaway valued at over $400!
As we continue on our new lifestyle of eating healthier and making better choices for us, we have been making almost everything homemade. What we realized though was our drink options weren’t as enjoyable. I was making homemade tea or flavored fruit water, but it just wasn’t the same. Andrew actually mentioned why don’t we just make our own fresh juices. Duh, why didn’t I think of that. He said he would make some strawberry lemonade. I was amazed that he was going to make anything, so I let him loose in the kitchen. And what happened was phenomenal.
I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make something so incredibly, wonderful tasting. Besides water, there are only three (3!!!!) required ingredients — sugar, strawberries, and lemons. Ever look at the back of a flavored lemonade bottle? There’s typically at least one ingredient you can’t even pronounce, food dyes, and then there’s always “natural flavors”. What is that exactly!? After seeing a show about secrets of the food industry, I really prefer not to even think about it. It also gives up a reason to play around with our lemon juicer. Definitely a gadget worth having!
*Note, if you don’t want lemon pulp in your lemonade, after adding the lemon juice and zest to the water, let sit for 30 minutes, then strain into a pitcher BEFORE adding the strawberry puree.

I think I would be most excited to win the grilling gazebo, it is hot enough grilling in the summer without the sun beating on you.<br />upstatemissy@gmail.com
