Nostalgia Electrics Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker Review & Giveaway

November 27, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 14 Comments

About the company: Nostalgia Electrics makes small electric appliances that are innovative and get consumers excited about cooking.  They are always looking for new inventions and encourage inventors to contact them! Nostalgia Electrics ships to more than 30 different countries worldwide.

I have seen Nostalgia Electrics at many different stores.  From popcorn to cotton candy machines, fondue to cake pop makers, they make some incredible appliances.  I was thrilled to be able to review their Vintage Collection Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker.

I took everything out of the box and flipped through the manual.  I was so excited when I got to the back and there were actual recipes right there.  Simple recipes like chocolate and vanilla to cookie dough and even sorbets.  I was like a little kid on Christmas ready to get started right away.

I followed the recipe, including, cooking and chilling the recipe.  Then, I filled up the aluminum canister with the ingredients, added the dasher, and placed it inside the wooden canister. After that, I just had to put the lid on, add the motor on top, fill with ice and salt, and plug in!  That’s it.  It was incredibly easy! The motor does all the churning of the ice cream for you. In 30 minutes, ice cream was ready. Each batch makes approximately four quarts, though I’m pretty sure only 3 quarts make it into the freezer!

It was absolutely amazing homemade chocolate ice cream.  I was blown away by how absolutely simple it was to use the Nostalgia Electrics ice cream maker.  It was simple to follow the directions and a very durable appliance. It reminded me of homemade ice cream at my great-grandmothers house growing up, which is such an amazing experience to be able to think of while using.  I couldn’t be happier to have this and definitely think it’s not only great to have for a special treat, but making some for the holidays will be the perfect treat for your guests.
