Orange Apple Green Fruit Smoothie

March 29, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 4 Comments

We have been on a serious smoothie kick around here.  There’s almost nothing easier to make in the morning than a smoothie.  I typically just throw anything inside and call it breakfast, but I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to make more green smoothies and get better nutrition.  It’s also great for Baby Skibbles because she’s so picky of an eater, but she gobbles down any smoothie I put in her cup!  So I wanted to start sharing some of my recipes and hopefully inspire some others to each a little healthier! Or for those of you who loves smoothies, some new alternatives to what you already enjoy!

This one is ice, orange, avocado, and apple.  I add a tablespoon of water to get things blended but apples have a lot of juice so you don’t need much. Textures of smoothies depend on the person, so if you prefer a thicker smoothie, add more ice; prefer thinner, add more liquid.

Smoothies are great for pregnant or breastfeeding moms looking to more nutrients.  Add a tablespoon of ground flax seed to increase milk production!

Ingredients:
1 whole apple (seeds, stem, and core removed)
1 whole orange (peeled)
1 whole avocado (peeled)
1 cup ice
1 tbsp water

Directions:
Cut apple, orange, and avocado in quarters.  Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.  Enjoy!

**Tip– Not all blenders are made equal.  You may need more liquid depending on how sharp your blades are.

This morning I made a yummy smoothie: 1 cup almond milk, 1 frozen banana, 2 Tablespoons natural peanut butter, 2 Tablespoons oat bran, and sweetener to taste. It was AWESOME!

Apple, orange, and avocado…I'll have to try that! My recent favorite is with spinach, mango, and banana! So good!
