About Adventure Aquarium: Here you will find more than 8,500 different aquatic species across over TWO MILLION gallons of water. Adventure Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world that has an exhibit for hippos and also houses the largest shark collection on the east coast. Just minutes from downtown Philadelphia, visitors can get up close to sharks and stingrays they can touch!
Ever since I was a little girl I had loved any and everything about the water. I even thought for a brief moment that I was the next Olympic gold medal hopeful. Unfortunately, those dreams never came to fruition, however, I am still in love with all things water, including aquariums. Surprisingly, I didn’t go to my first aquarium until I was in my 20s. Growing up there wasn’t one near us, so the fish are at the pet store was the closest I had ever been. When we moved to NJ, Adventure Aquarium was one of the first places I wanted to go. Andrew and I went there (pre-baby) and it was magical. In addition to my own excitement, I loved seeing all the children running around and knew that when we were blessed enough to have children I could t wait to share the experience.
Baby Skibbles first went to the Camden aquarium at 2 months old and has been a total of 3 times now. Each time is more and more exciting for us to watch as she grows and develops and learns how to explore on her own.
From January 17 to April 27, 2014, the newest exhibit, Frogs: Nature’s Messenger, has hopped into the aquarium. More than 20 species of frogs and amphibians are currently on exhibit and include: the red-eyed tree frog, the poison dart frog, the tiger-legged monkey frog and the enormous African bullfrog!
We were thrilled to be able to visit for the newly added Frog: Nature’s Messenger Exhibit. The day we went it was freezing outside and had just recently snowed, so it was the perfect day for an aquarium trip! I have always loved the views you see of the Philadelphia skyline from there as well and with the frozen Delaware river, this was no exception.
This exhibit is incredible and there is something there for all ages to truly enjoy. When you first walk in there are painted frogs that you can vote on your favorite one. I was thrilled to learn this was actually a project that Adventure Aquarium teamed up on with the Camden City School District and elementary students painted them as part of their art curriculum.
There’s also a huge area that displays from tadpole to frog and all stages in between. This area is for children a little bigger than Baby Skibbles but that didn’t stop us from having fun. Andrew and I both enjoyed the mimic station. There you can hear different frog sounds but also talk into a speaker that let’s you hear what you would sound like as a frog also. It was hilarious.
More about the exhibit: Guests come face-to-face with all types of frogs. From the vividly beautiful red-eyed tree frog to the tiny poison dart frog to the gigantic African bullfrog to the waxy monkey frog. There are over two dozen fascinating species to discover.

More than 6,000 species of frogs live on every continent except Antarctica and at least 30% of the entire species are threatened with extinction. Scientists believe that frogs disappearing so rapidly makes the nature’s messenger about what is happening in our ecosystem. You will learn how you can help by visiting the exhibit!
Upstairs there are tons of activities for the little ones from climbing over gigantic frogs to video games with frogs and of course the actual frog displays.

We loved this unique frog exhibit and everything else that Adventure Aquarium has to offer.
It was an amazing trip. Baby Skibbles was absolutely wore out! She fell asleep before we even left the parking lot and stayed asleep when we transferred her inside, jacket, hat, and all!
