People always ask me my favorite season and I never really know what to tell them. I love the blooming flowers of spring, the warmth of the summer, beautiful scenery of leaves changing during the fall, and the way I feel during the first snowfall of winter. But what I realized a few months ago is that nothing really compares to the happiness I feel during fall. The smell of a warm apple or sweet potato pie in the oven. The sense of joy when I bite into my first piece of pumpkin roll. It’s pure heaven. And I’ve decided that I need a little bit of that in my life all year long.
During fall, I always see recipes that call for pumpkin pie spice; however, I never had any of that on hand. I finally remembered to look in the store for it one day and realized it was overpriced for things that I already have in my spice cabinet. So, I decided to go home and recreate. It was crazy simple and ready in under 2 minutes!

Ingredients
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Instructions
-
Combine all ingredients in an air tight container and shake until well combined. Store with lid on for up to 6 months.
Recipe Notes
- recipe can be doubled or tripled if needed
It’s really that simple. I substitute this in a lot of recipes that just call for cinnamon because the extra spices really make everything that much yummier! Oatmeal, banana breads, and I’ve even been putting it on top of my hot chocolate! It’s simply amazing!
Just made it! Thank you for the recipe! I've been meaning to make some instead of making a small batch whenever I need it. I had all of the ingredients on hand and now can use it in anything I want.
thanks for sharing! I love anything pumpkin 🙂
Sounds delicious – especially on coffee! 🙂
I bet this would make an awesome smoothie, too!
