30+ Outdoor Activities You Didn’t Know You Could Buy

June 3, 2019 by Larisha Campbell Leave a Comment

Outdoor family friendly entertainment is a big hit! Whether you are have summer get-togethers, want to plan your own summer camp, or need a way to keep the kids busy for hours, we’ve got you covered! Check out 30+ Outdoor Activities You Didn’t Know You Could Buy, but that you need!

Buckle down.  If summer break hasn’t started for you yet, it is soon and that means the kid(s) will start driving you crazy in 5…4…3…2…1… We are coming to the rescue today though with more than 30 outdoor activities you didn’t know you could buy. These are super fun and creative ways to get your kids out the door and out of your hair for more than three minutes.  Whoops, I mean, fun ways to keep them entertained!

Why consider buying these outdoor activities

Listen, Summer is so close I can almost taste the salt in the air. Every year since having kids, we have found ourselves at the beach more and more.  Days that we aren’t at the beach, we find ourselves lost for time as we play for hours and hours outdoors.

We love it. Whether with friends or family, outdoor time is the best. The girls love playing, I love gardening, and Andrew…well, he does something. (not always sure what he’s doing).

As the girls get bigger though, I’ve come to the realization that chalk and bubbles aren’t going to work as entertainment outdoors for much longer.

We also, for the first time, have a decent yard where grass is actually growing. Because of that, we’ve been looking for some fun outdoor activities that we can entertain our guests with.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve found a lot of really cool outdoor activities that I wanted to share with each of you.

Why you need these outdoor activities for tweens and teens

We all know that the closer in age our kids get to moving out of the house, the more they don’t want want anything to do with us.  You are desperately trying to keep them at your own house for as often as possible. However, all they want to do is get as far away from you as possible and hang out at someone else’s house.

There’s hope for you yet!

With these outdoor activities you didn’t know you could buy, there’s a chance that you could turn your house into the fun and exciting place that all the kids want to hang out (I know this may be the exact opposite of what some of you want, and that’s okay too.)

Kids, even at this crazy stage of wanting nothing to do with their parents, love to have fun. And they love to do silly things. Bump and Bounce Body Balls or Inflatable Giant Twister are definitely things that will keep the kids around for longer.

And who knows, it may even be a way for you to bond together!

Endless outdoor fun for all ages!

It doesn’t matter if you have tweens or teens, toddlers, or are single with no kids yet, these 30+ outdoor activities you didn’t know you could buy are going to be a hit no matter if it’s a family activity, something for your older kids to do alone, or an adult only outdoor party! There’s literally something for everyone, no matter the age!

Ready? Let’s go!

Are you ready for a Spring Outdoor Challenge!?

Spring has sprung and with that it means great weather is arriving. So I’m springing our little family out of the confines of our own home after hibernating this winter and we’re ready for a Spring Outdoor Challenge.

Every year winter comes in and seems like it restricts us to our home. As much as I try to get us out and doing activities at indoor places, nothing truly beats the fresh air and magic of really being outdoors. There’s something remarkable that happens with your mood when you are able to open the windows, hear the birds chirping, see fresh cherry blossoms, and start getting your hands into the soil again to grow your garden.  I notice that winter completely drains my girls too, even at such a young age, and how delighted their faces are when we get to go outside day after day again.

So this spring, I want to motivate you to get outside and get your own kids (and yourself) active with us! We have a goal to be outside for a minimum of one hour, three days a week. I, mostly likely, will be in the garden, while the girls are chasing each other around and playing on the swing set on most days. However, we also have a spring bucket list of places we want to get too as well! So can you join me in that goal?

To make it easier for you, I’ve created this Spring Outdoor Challenge with FREE Printable! In our challenge, we give you 10 places to go, 10 things to find, and 10 things to take a picture of your littles doing. It’s a fun way to enjoy nature even more! And who doesn’t love a challenge!?

Before we get into the challenge, let me first give you a little PSA – PLEASE KEEP HYDRATED! When you are out, even in cool weather, it’s easy for you, and especially littles to get dehydrated. We are loving our Contigo AUTOSEAL® Chill Spill-Proof Water Bottle. Our Contigo water bottle is BPA free, comes with a carry handle for easier carry, keeps drinks cold up to 28 hours with their Thermalock™ vacuum insulation, and comes with Auto seal technology, so it knows when to close™, meaning leak AND spill proof!

Now let’s have a spring outdoor challenge!

(Get the Spring Outdoor Challenge printable below)

Buzz Away Pests This Summer

June 27, 2016 by Larisha Campbell 1 Comment

natural protection from mosquitos

Summertime means lots of fun for our kids.  We will spend countless hours outdoors swimming, going to the playground, gardening, and more. As a parent, it’s the best time in the world watching your children explore the world around them at a much deeper level and watching them learn at such an amazingly fast rate some of the things that we enjoyed so much ourselves growing up.

Even though summer just started, we’ve already spent an abundant amount of hours in our garden planting tomatoes, cucumbers, and more, spent time planting new flower beds and finding as many worms as we could, learning to ride a bike and play frisbee at the playground, and this week we will finally be in the pool! We typically spend at least an hour or more outside each day and up until a few weeks ago, all was well. But then, the bug bites starts.

As a kid growing up, we didn’t think much about this, but now, as a parent, it’s constantly freaking us out. We worry if they got bit by something poisonous, the fact that you can’t really tell a child to stop scratching and them actually listen, and if the bugs are carrying more harmful diseases like Lymes or Zika.

buzz away extreme spray

Luckily, we found a safe alternative that is actually working for our family. We were recently asked to let our readers know about Buzz Away Extreme, an all-natural insect repellant, but we were never asked to give our opinions about the products. After receiving the samples though, and using them ourselves, I didn’t feel like I could write this post without sharing my opinions. Buzz Away Extreme worked almost instantly for us. Andrew and I used the spray and I used the wipes on the girls and we all stopped being so itchy and finding bites on us. Admittedly, I have extremely sensitive skin and most products break me out, but this didn’t!

buzz away extreme

Buzz Away Extreme is made with essential plant oils and delivers the same protection as many chemical DEET-based repellents, but it’s DEET free!

We now feel like we can spend even more time with our girls and be safe from mosquitos, ticks, and more. We’ve even planned a trip soon to a local hiking walk, a first for us, so we can’t wait to try it out then!

Deet free bug wipes for kids

Right now you can share pictures on Facebook using #bugfreefun and you’ll be entered to win a Buzz Away Extreme Super Pack which includes an 8oz bottle of Buzz Away Extreme, container of child-friendly towelettes and a $50 Amazon Gift Card.

You can use the code 10OFFBUZZ to get 10% off any Buzz Away Extreme product at quantumhealth.com. The code is valid through September 30 and can be used once per customer.

Free to Be Scavenger Hunt Printable

May 28, 2016 by Larisha Campbell 1 Comment

This Free to Be Scavenger Hunt is the perfect outdoor activity to keep your littles busy no matter where you happen to be!

IMG_9068

One thing that I love about being a parent is watching the imagination of a child flourish.  When able, they have some of the biggest dreams and wildest adventures that we are able to explore together.  A blanket fort becomes a deep sea cave, a cardboard box becomes a train, a leaf becomes an airplane that we vividly ride together through the air along the mountainous region of South America…err, our backyard. Andrew and I together work really hard to allow our girls the freedom to be themselves as often as possible whether climbing, digging, or searching for the next adventure together or independently.

With us outside more, I often give Skibbles, our toddler, something to search for while we are outside. Right now her favorite things are to look for caterpillars and bugs, but sometimes she has to find a shape or an object.  It allows her to independently work on a task while exploring nature and the world around her naturally.

We’ve created this scavenger hunt of great things that you and your littles can work to find together.

Print out this scavenger hunt and have fun exploring!
