Boba Organic (Soft Structured) Carrier 3G Review

April 20, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 11 Comments

About the company:  Boba was all started when Elizabeth had the idea & her husband Robert made it all happen.  They had a “wrap” idea and sold their first in rural Slovenia while traveling in 2007.  They set up a website selling the Sleepy Wrap (now the Boba Wrap) and did everything they could over the next few months to grow their business.  They are one of the top companies in the babywearing community now in just six short years!  In addition to their wrap, they now have a soft structured carriers as well.

I have been babywearing since Baby Skibbles was just a week old.  I am absolutely in love with it and couldn’t imagine life without it.  I received the Organic Boba Carrier 3G in Pine to review and fell in love all over again. The gender neutral pattern and the bright vibrant color are stunning.  This carrier features a dark brown cotton frame with a green swirl center panel.  It’s made from 100% cotton and free of any potentially harmful materials or dyes which is great and makes me feel so much safer to have the baby in so often. I have to admit, the Boba 3G has become my go to carrier for many different reasons including: it’s amazingly soft, comfortable for both myself and the baby, and is much safer.  The padded straps and waistband make the Boba 3G Organic carrier the best feeling/supportive carrier we have.

There are a total of three straps for adjusting, which almost guarantees whoever wears this carrier can find the perfect adjustment for them.  First the chest/back buckle straps can actually slide up and down the length of shoulder pads so you can get the perfect fit.  I love that I could slide it up high before I put her in it so it was easier for me to reach behind and attach and then I could move it down to the perfect position.

The side straps allow for pulling the baby closer to you or also loosen the tightness to allow for space while breastfeeding.  Yup, that’s right, it makes it easier to breastfeed.  I actually haven’t had another carrier than made it so easy to breastfeed.  With just a few quick adjustments, I can have her latched…literally it takes about 30 seconds.  Then I can discretely nurse (even while walking) and not have to worry with those covers that she pulls off anyway.
The last set of adjustable straps is the main waist support buckle. Unlike other carriers, the main waist support buckle attaches in the middle of the back and not the sides.  This is amazing because with my other carriers I was always uncomfortable trying to strain adjust the waist.  Each side has straps for easy adjusting to make sure it fits you perfectly and ensure the baby is as safe as possible. All three sets of straps adjust on both the left and right sides allowing to easier adjusting and less straining.

There is a zippered pocket in the waistband that stretches length wise across the carrier. I love the location of this.  It’s easy to get to even when I’m wearing the baby and I can actually fit my phone, keys, and cards/money inside easily.

There is an amazing sleep hood right in the middle of the carrier in a zippered pocket so it can be hidden when not in use.  The hood is great to cover the baby while sleeping or nursing to keep those pesky strangers away, or just to keep the baby covered from the sun (or rain).  What makes the Boba sleeping hood better than any other hood I’ve seen is that it comes with adjustable straps to lengthen as the baby grows, but it’s also completely detachable.  This is great for those that have babies that just completely hate the hood because it gives you an extra pocket to carrier more!

The Boba 3G carrier also have a snap loop on either side of the carrier to keep your bag in place while you are wearing.  Sometimes it is difficult while wearing your baby to keep a bag or purse on your shoulder but with this it you don’t have to worry about it falling again. In the waist band are also loops for your to attach the patent pending foot straps.  Baby Skibbles is too small for this but I think this is genius.

The foot straps actually allow your child to keep their feet in place for a variety of reasons.  #1 so they aren’t constantly kicking you! #2 it gives their legs a rest from just dangling if you are wearing for a long time. and #3 it actually keeps their legs supported in a froglike position which is the natural positioning to tilt the pelvis, fill out the hip sockets, and align the spine, insuring the your child is in the best position possible. Best the loops are actually hard sometimes I have to readjustment the waistband so they don’t dig into my hips. I do wish there were more colors or patterns available in the Organic 3G like there are in the regular 3G carrier.

We even got daddy and nana to wear Baby Skibbles in the Boba and they too agreed that it’s awesome.

We can’t say enough nice things about how awesome this carrier is for us and we are sure it will be for your too.  Some other great features are:
-It’s intended for children 7-45lbs

-The infant conversion options allows you to use the carrier without inserts or accessories like other brands
-There are 2-3″ more height compared to other carrier to keep your center of gravity closer to support your body and your baby’s back
With the multiple adjustments and soft structure this is the ideal carrier for everyone in the family.

It IS fairly comfy! My son and I use our Boba 3G just about everywhere. I have a mid-sized bust these days, and find I can nurse easily in it as well.

I too love the Boba carrier, and I am amazed by all the extra features too. On my first walk with the Boba Carrier, it started drizzling, and that's when I discovered that the sun cover works well as a rain shield too.

They had a &quot;wrap&quot; idea and sold their <a href="http://businesspac.co.uk&quot; rel="nofollow">business carrier bags</a> first in rural Slovenia while traveling in 2007.
