Scrapbook Party Cones

July 12, 2012 by Larisha Campbell 2 Comments

My baby shower is quickly approaching (next weekend).  My sister and I actually decided to have a joint baby shower since we both live so far from where our family is located. After deciding on a “Pop” theme we located lots of great ideas for solutions on Pinterest.
We are on a limited budget, so it’s super necessary to find solutions.  We loved the idea of a popcorn bar but couldn’t afford a ton of those theater style holders that you can pay a lot of money for. So, I loved the idea using scrapbook paper for popcorn holders to make scrapbook party cones.  I literally have tons of 12×12 scrapbook paper laying around so this actually didn’t cost us anything to do.
So here’s what I did:
First, pick out scrapbook paper.  You can use whatever you already have on hand or buy colors specific to your party.  We went with a variety of colors because we are having a gender reveal at the shower as well.

Next, with a pen or pencil, draw an arch on the paper.  I wanted these to be fairly large, so The arch starts almost in the middle of the page.  If you want shorter cones, make your arch closer.  This will be your template.

Next, cut out the template and trace on each additional piece of scrapbook paper that you are using until you have the desired number of cut outs.

Next, overlap the sides.  It needs to be tighter than the picture below, but that was somewhat difficult to hold and take a picture 😉

Then, using 2 pieces of scotch tape, tape the edges.

Depending on your cutting skills, some of them may have a slight overlap issue…not to worry….

Just cut off the excess to make them even.

You are left with beautiful cones to use for anything…in our case popcorn!! 🙂

There will be a post next week of the whole shower, so keep checking back 🙂
