Why I Stopped Judging And Became A Babywearer

Baby-wearing.

Before I was a mom, the thought of wearing my child around seemed absolutely ridiculous. I would think to myself, “why does that person have their child strapped to their body? Just let them walk, put them in the cart, or use the stroller.” Looking back now, I realize I knew nothing.

Children are beautiful, amazing, difficult little people. After becoming a mom, you realize you are willing to try everything possible to calm your children when they are crying and cranky. My oldest son suffered from severe acid reflux, so painful cries were a common occurrence at our house. I would find myself begging and pleading for his comfort and for silence.

It wasn’t until I won a Moby wrap that I truly understood the power of baby-wearing. I now take back every silly joke I made about parents who wore their children. Those parents aren’t crazy; they are baby gurus!

They knew what I was about to discover: baby-wearing is the answer to it all.

When the package arrived, I sat down and opened it. A confused look took over my face; it was 5.5 meters of intimidation. How do I use this long piece of fabric? This cannot possibly hold a child, and if so, he is not going to like it.

Wrong and wrong!

The directions included were hard for me to comprehend, so I pulled up YouTube on my trusty iPhone. After studying 3 videos, I decided to give it a try. My first attempt was loose and sloppy. On the second attempt, I was looking better. By attempt three, I had a calm, sleeping baby. I thought to myself, “This has to be a fluke. I exhausted him with all the wrapping and tying.”

The next day, I decided to give it another go; he was fussy, and I was exhausted and on the verge of tears. You wouldn’t believe it. I didn’t believe it. Success! We had absolute silence. He went from wails to fast asleep within five minutes. I now had a quiet, sleeping baby. From that moment on, I became hooked and without any more judgment or fear. I found my solace in this long piece of stretchy fabric. I knew then that I needed more carriers. Within a few months, I owned a Boba soft structured carrier, a ring sling, and beautiful woven wrap. I formed a new addiction to coincide with my cloth diapering one.

I started off judging those parents who wore their children, but in reality I had no idea how smart they were. Wearing my toddler on my back while shopping has made it an enjoyable experience again. No longer am I chasing him around the store and trying to prevent public meltdowns. My house is clean again, and the dishes aren’t stacked in the sink as high as his Lego tower. I strap him on and get to work.

What Carrier Should I Get?

Many ask why the variety of carriers, and how do you know what is right for you. I use my Boba for quick trips with my toddler, the ring sling is perfect when it is hot out, and my beautiful Oscha woven is my go- to with my two month old son around the house and out shopping. When you decide to take the plunge into the amazing world of baby-wearing, remember there is no need to feel intimidated (YouTube is your friend), and the results of baby-wearing will reassure you that you made the right choice.  If you aren’t sure what type of carrier you would love, check out a local babywearing group (Facebook is a great place to look for one!).  Many of which have a lending library of various carriers for you to try before you purchase.

About the author: Melanie resides just south of Pittsburgh with her fiancé Jon and their two sons: Jace (who will be two in December) and Jaedyn (who was born in July). They are a cloth diapering, baby-wearing, breastfeeding, semi-crunchy family.

Crab Fried Rice Featuring Success Boil-in-Bag

I’m constantly looking for quick and easy meals that are nutritious for our family and full of flavor.  But again, I need it to be quick.  While I am typically home, I do work from home most of the day, therefore, I’m still looking for fast, just like many working outside the home families.  A few months ago, Andrew asked me to make him shrimp fried rice.  I made a whole meal in addition to the rice and he looked so confused when he got home.  I asked what was wrong and he said that he typically just eats shrimp fried rice by itself and that I wouldn’t have had to made an entire meal beside that.  SAY WHATT!?  The month after, I made fried rice with chicken. It was incredibly easy, ready in 30 minutes and I’ve never turned back.  It’s on our meal list at least once a month.
I’ll be honest that I’ve seen Success® Boil-in-Bag in stores for a long time, but had never personally tried it for myself until recently.  I’m not even entirely sure why I’ve never tried it, but since trying it now, I’m in love.  I had perfectly cooked rice (which is hard for me to do) in under 10 minutes.  That means I still had 20 minutes to play around with dinner to get it ready in under 30 minutes!  And that I did!

Crab fried rice is completely easier to make than you may imagine.  I love creating the little hole in the middle of the rice to add the egg.  It’s like egg in a basket but with rice! HAHA!

We used  for our recipe.  100% whole grain and gluten free, it’s guaranteed perfect every time in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients
Two bags Success® , cooked (4 cups cooked rice)
1/8 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/2 tbsp Fish Sauce
1 tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
2 eggs, beaten
3 green onions, finely chopped, reserve 1 tbsp of the chopped green stalk
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger fresh grated
Black Pepper, to taste
1 cup frozen green peas
2 tbsp olive oil + more
6 -8 oz container of cooked real crab meat, drained

Directions:
In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, fish sauce, rice wine vinegar, pepper and set aside.

In a wok, add the oil over medium high heat. Add in minced garlic, green onions, and ginger and stir constantly for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium low. Add the cooked rice.  Make a hole in the middle of the rice, add a touch of oil and add the beaten eggs into the hole.  Scramble the eggs in the hole and then incorporate the eggs into the rest of the fried rice. Add the sauce, frozen green peas, and the crab meat.  Continue to stir gently, making sure the rice doesn’t burn on the bottom for 2-3 minutes, or until peas are thawed and crab meat is warmed throughout.  Garnish with the reserved chopped green onion stalk and serve immediately.

Coconut Lime Ginger Chicken

September 30, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 2 Comments

*Disclosure: Affiliate links may be contained in this post. We receive a small commission for purchases and thank you for helping us continue to run our site.

Growing up, I despised coconut anything.  Really, I have no idea way, and I’m so happy that I came out of the phase because now I’m obsessed with it.  The flavor is amazing whether in cooking or baking and while I have the baking down packed by now, I’m still learning about the best ways to cook dinner with coconut products.  I’m a huge fan of fried coconut shrimp, but I’ve been looking into healthier ways to use coconut milk in cooking without frying.  One of my dear friends always talks about making coconut lime chicken, so I took that and added a twist with the ginger and the taste was incredible.

A great dinner, in my opinion, starts with a marinade that full of flavor and is allowed to sit for a few hours or even overnight allowing those flavors to really soak in to the meat.  While I love grilling anything and everything, I decided to bake this with the marinade and the result was a rich, flavorful, and extremely juicy chicken breasts.  It was divine.

Ingredients:
3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 Organic Canned Coconut Milk, reserve one cup
2 tbsp Raw Honey (*we use and encourage raw, local honey)
2 tbsp Fresh Lime Juice
Zest from 1 lime
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp Organic Basil
1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
Directions:
Mixed all the ingredients ,except chicken, together and combine well into a bowl.  Add chicken and cover.  Place into the fridge for at least four hours, preferably overnight.  Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Add chicken and marinade to an oven safe dish and back for 30-40 minutes or until chicken reaches 165 degrees F. Remove chicken from oven and serve while hot.  Enjoy!

With the reserved cup of coconut milk, use it to make coconut lime rice. Bring One cup coconut milk and one cup water to a boil, add in one cup uncooked brown rice.  Cover, Reduce temp to simmer and cook 30 minutes.  Turn off heat and keep the lid on the cover for an additional 15 minutes.

We paired this with Bacon Seasoned Fresh Green Beans – Boil water, add in green beans, one slice uncooked uncured smoked bacon, 1/4 tsp black pepper and boil for 10 minutes. Discard bacon.

Hope you try this out and enjoy!  What’s your favorite way to use coconut?

JuJu Organics Salon – Philadelphia, PA

September 28, 2014 by Larisha Campbell Leave a Comment

*Disclosure: We received complimentary service in exchange for this post.  Thoughts & opinions are our own.

We were recently invited to JuJu Organics salon.  To be honest, I’d never heard of an organic salon and even though it’s 30 minutes from our house, we decided to check it out! JuJu Organics is tucked along a quiet street in Philadelphia, but inside the atmosphere is nothing shy of a friendly neighborhood party.  There was a chalkboard sidewalk sign outside the store, where one side said Never Grow Up and the other side said Fall in Love with yourself!  I absolutely loved the positive affirmations of both.

The event we went to at JuJu Organics was in the evening, so I was taking a big risk being so close to Skibbles bedtime. The sunset drive across the bridge from Jersey to Philly was stunning and gave me a little hope.  Luckily when we got there Skibbles found her friends from Fourth St Payphone and Thirty Is The New Prelude.  Aren’t they just adorable waiting for their own manicures!?  Skibbles also found an entire bowl of nail polish that kept her busy for awhile.  Thankfully (and surprisingly) she didn’t break any of the bottles!

I was able to get an eyebrow wax.  If you’ve seen me lately, you knew how desperately I needed this. (left is before, right is after). I wanted my eyebrows to stay natural, but they needed a lot of work.  Juliene, owner of JuJu Organics was actually the one to do my eyebrows and she was amazing.  They use soy wax for all of their waxing.  I felt so much better knowing that a natural product was going on my face instead. I think they turned out amazing.

Then it was Skibbles turn for a manicure.  I knew this was going to be incredibly fast and really just be a little polish on the nails.  Skibs did amazingly well and the nail tech that assisted us was extremely patient and kind.  We had an absolutely amazing first experience.

We would highly recommend their services and the experience that you get, all while knowing that the safest of products are being used on your skin.

About the Salon: JuJu Organics opened in 2005 in the Queen Village neighborhood of Philly. Owner, Julie, wanted to create a salon where customers felt comfortable, healthy, and cared for, thus becoming the first wholly organic salon in the Philly area. They are on the cutting edge of all-natural, non-toxic, and organic professional hair, skin, and body products and services.  All products used in their shop can be purchased through their on-line store as well!

Lice Removal The Natural Way With Lice Lifters #LiceLifters

September 25, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 142 Comments

*Disclosure: We received compensation to feature this post.  Thoughts and opinions are 100% ours. Affiliate links may be contained in this post. We receive a small commission for purchases and thank you for helping us continue to run our site.

I’ll be VERY quick to admit that the thought of lice absolutely CREEPS me out!  Ewww, Gross, Stay away.  I’m praying I have a few more years before we have to start worrying about it ourselves, but I know for many of my friends, family, and readers with school-aged children, this is a very real issue that is current in their lives.

Lucky for me, I’m finding out about Lice Lifters now.
Lice Removal…The Natural Way! Lice Lifters! One Quick Treatment. Done!
Did you know lice activity is traditionally the highest in September and October? Our kids are playing in large groups at school or hunched over one another to get a good look at something. Sports helmets are swapped, coats and jackets get piled together. These are just a few examples of perfect conditions for lice transmission.

Here’s Some Interesting Facts About Lice:

  • Lice do not discriminate; the cleanliness of your hair, home, or school has nothing to do with the risk of getting lice.
  • 1 louse can lay up to 10 eggs (nits) per day.
  • You cannot get head lice from an animal and your animals can not get it from you, lice need human scalp blood to survive.
  • Off the human head, lice cannot survive for more than 48 hours.
  • “Super Lice” and their resistance to traditional over the counter treatments are a pesky problem. Consumers are becoming more aware and informed about the toxic levels of over-the-counter-treatments.
  • Electronic devices like iPods, iPads and cell phones cause kids to cluster together to view games, videos and movies, as well as do group “selfies”. All of this head to head contact spreads lice easily.
  • Battling lice at home for weeks at a time is time-consuming, causes stress, causes missed school/work days and is often is ineffective.

Nix, Rid and other over-the-counter products have pesticides in their ingredients? Some contain 4 times the amount of chemicals and pesticide’s as Raid! Pretty scary! Lice are becoming more and more resistant to these chemicals creating the term “Super Lice”. Often people battling lice use these products over and over again and still cannot get rid of lice. Sometimes scalps are burned as a result of over treatment.

Some prescription and over –the-counter treatments contain chemicals that are no longer permitted for use on crops or animals, yet are allowed for lice treatment. Some of these chemicals and pesticides have been proven to cause cancer, seizures and in some cases death!

Thankfully, now there is an effective, all natural treatment to stop lice in its tracks!

Lice Lifters, America’s fastest growing Lice Removal Franchise is here to help!

Currently Lice Lifters has salons across Pennsylvania and New Jersey and Florida. Lice Lifters uses a patented heated air treatment process which kills 99.2% of the eggs and 87% of the bugs. Technician’s then sends each treated individual home with a custom follow up care program to ensure no new activity occurs. Typically this consists of 2-4 simple Nit Nanny Solution applications (similar to a shampooing) which make the treatment process 100% effective.

With Lice Lifters you can feel 100% confident your problem was resolved. Children receive a certificate allowing them to return to school – same day! Lice Lifters Nit Nanny products are all-natural, pesticide free, non-toxic and chemical free.

Lice Lifters technicians are empathetic and efficient. They understand what you are going through. They assess your situation, make you comfortable and get to work. Kids choose a movie, have a snack and the next thing they know, they are on their way home.

Why I Chose To VBAC

September 24, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 5 Comments

167999_10150132360116183_5440969_n

*Disclosure: This is a guest post written by Momma Lew.  Thoughts and opinions may differ from ours.

When I found out I was pregnant with my son in January 2008, I had nothing but excitement.  I was never a cautious mommy-to-be, even after the fact that he was conceived right after my miscarriage that previous December.  I always just felt that many things were out of my control and why worry about them.  Oh how I enjoyed being pregnant with Adam.  I was probably the happiest (and largest) pregnant woman you had ever seen.

My pregnancy was complication free.  The only hiccup was failing my glucose test.  I had narrowly passed the 3 hour.  I did everything I had to do to prepare the nursery, clothes, I had a wonderful baby shower and went to an all day childbirth class.

Childbirth.

The one thing I really never prepared for.  I just really couldn’t fathom that a baby was going to come out of “there”.  It was this mysterious thing that quite frankly, I just put out of my mind.
I went to a large OB/GYN practice apart of a teaching hospital.  I saw quite a handful of doctors throughout the months, of course the ONE doctor I didn’t care for was the one at my 40 week appointment.  I had a “large baby” on my hands and well he just wasn’t budging.

This is where things got real.

Be at the hospital at 6pm 1 week later and he would induce me.  Sounded simple enough.  I enjoyed the next week knowing that the time was coming to an end.

Lucky for me, I had walked into the hospital on October 6th, already starting labor.  The cervidil they administered pushed my body into full force and within a few hours I was completely blinded by the pain.  If you have never been induced, let me tell you that labor pain while you are strapped to a bed is almost barbaric.  Epidural stat!  I am probably one of the only people who slept through their entire labor.   I woke up 12 hours later (true story) being told it was time to start pushing soon because I was at 10cm.

Keep in mind now, I hadn’t moved much since the epidural was administered at around 1am.  It’s now 1pm on October 7th.  All I kept thinking was “Shouldn’t I feel like I have to poop if it’s time to push?”  3 hours later, my happy go-lucky pregnant lady ego has been crushed and I am getting ready to be prepped for a C-Section due to “failure to descend”.

I was just besides myself.

Failure?  My body was a failure?

At 6:01pm on October 7, 2008 by big, beautiful baby boy was born weighing in at 9lbs 3oz at 23inches.

Why I Chose to VBAC
At my 6 week postpartum appointment, the midwife I saw informed me not to even try to go into labor on my own again.  My next baby will be even bigger and I wouldn’t be able to birth that baby either.

While it was a wonderful time becoming a mother for the first time, the pain I felt because of the c-section was tremendous.  And I don’t mean just physically.  Emotionally, I felt like I was in mourning.

Mourning over the fact that the ONE thing I my body was meant to do – it couldn’t.

I couldn’t birth a baby.

Because you know:  Once a c-section, always a c-section.

Or is it?

As the months wore on and I settled into motherhood, this phrase kept popping up in front of me: VBAC.

Vaginal Birth After Cesarean

I became pregnant again in May 2010.  I certainly was not one to ever make a stand, but I WAS DOING THIS.  I did my research.  A lot of research.  At my first prenantal appointment, of course I heard “….and we’ll schedule you for your c-section…”.  No.  You won’t.  I was a good candidate for a VBAC.

I spent 9 months FIGHTING for this.  Just like I suspected, the doctors fought right back.  Every doctor’s appointment, I had the same conversation.

“You can’t do it”, “You know the risks, right?”, “Oh but the OR schedule is filling up”.

The time came and went, I had NST’s (non-stress tests) and ultrasounds and every thing was a go for my VBAC.  The only thing?  My baby HAD to come by 41 weeks.  I was lucky to have seen a wonderful doctor at my 40 week appointment and since I was already having some labor pains and at 2cm at 40 weeks, he would just break my water for me at 41 weeks.  With a VBAC there are no inductions or pitocin.

I have a long-time friend who is a Doula and she recommended the advice on Spinning Babies to help get my daughter to drop.  I washed the floors on my hands and knees, I did deep knee bends, I did everything I could.  I WAS HAVING THIS VBAC.

I had to.  I had to prove to myself and to the doctors that I COULD birth a baby.  I wanted that moment that was taken from me.  You know, the one where your baby is placed on your chest?
I spent the nights of February 6 and 7, 2011 in prodromal labor.  One part of prodromal labor is where you have contractions all night, but by daylight they fade away.  On February 8th, I assumed this would be the case again.  With the fear of going to the hospital too soon and being pushed into the operating room, I stayed at home as long as I could.  I finally realized around 4pm that day, that I was in fact IN labor and should probably start making plans.

We got to the hospital shortly after 8pm, my water broke on the 2nd contraction I had in the hospital and my beautiful baby girl was born at 8:59pm via a unmedicated VBAC weighing in at 9lbs 5oz and 23 inches long.
Why I Chose to VBAC

I did it.

And you can too!

Be your own advocate!  Know the risks, know the facts and know that it is NOT once a cesarean, always a cesarean!

Spicy Chicken and Vegetable Soup

September 23, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 2 Comments

*Disclosure: Affiliate links may be contained in this post. We receive a small commission for purchases and thank you for helping us continue to run our site.

It’s officially the first full day Fall, so what better way to kick it off than with a hearty, fulfilling chicken and vegetables soup.  One of the best things, to me, about the cooler months is being able to fully enjoy a steaming hot bowl of soup and allowing it to warm me up instead of layering on 20 more clothing articles. In addition, it’s extremely cheap to make a full pot of soup and around here lasts for many meals.

It’s also one of the easiest things to ever make.  Chop up veggies, Chop meat, add stock and seasonings, and wham bam you’re done.  Seriously.  it’s that simple. And now that Skibbles is big enough, we’ve gotten her in the kitchen to start learning.  Nothing makes me happier than getting her in the kitchen with me and teaching her the basics of cooking.  We have a blast together.

Ingredients:
3 cups Low Sodium Organic Chicken Broth
2 cup water
1 tbsp organic butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups green peppers, chopped
1 1/2 cups sweet multicolored peppers, chopped
1 1/2 cups celery, chopped
1 1/2 cups carrots, chopped
2 uncooked ears corn on the cob, corn removed from cob
2-3 cups chopped chicken, cooked
1 tsp organic black pepper
1 tsp Organic Italian Seasoning
1/4 tsp Chipotle Chili Powder, optional
Salt if desired

Directions:

In a large pot, add the chicken broth, water, and butter and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat to medium and add onion, peppers, celery, carrots, and the seasonings.  Cook for 5 minutes, then add the corn and cook for 10 minutes.  Add in the chicken, and cook for another 20-35 minutes, on until all the vegetables have cooked through.

Alternatives- add in a 15oz can of diced tomatoes and top with crumbled bacon.

It’s Tailgate season.  You may either be the host looking for quick snack ideas or be going somewhere that you want to take a snack but don’t have time and need a quick solution.  Look no further than CVS.  I’ll admit, I would have never considered stopping at CVS in the past, but they have been adding more and more to their Gold Emblem store brand line that are the perfect grab and go snacks for tailgate season (and back to school too!)

Their brand is very budget friendly and there are frequent deals in their weekly ads and coupons in the CVS Extracare machines that will make it even more affordable for your budget.  We were sent a variety of drinks and snacks to check out.  While you take care of the pizza and wings, let CVS take care of all the grab and go snacks.  There are a variety of beef jerky flavors and various types of trail mixes.  One of my favorite trail mixes is the caramel trail mix- it has caramel bits with almonds and other nuts, and is the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Speaking of caramel, CVS carries these sea salt caramel cookies that after one bite, you may go sneak a few and hide in the bathroom to eat them all, they are that good.
Skibbles even gives it a thumbs up for being toddler approved!  While she’s a huge fan of jerky, she loves the greek yogurt covered cranberries and the banana chips.

Of course you can set our a huge spread, or use CVS’ convenient packaging like I usually do!  Hey, no one said I had to share at my own tailgating party!

There are literally hundreds of CVS locations across the US, so the next time you are planning a tailgate party (or run out of something for a party) don’t pass up CVS.  Run in there and grab what you need.  While you’re there, check out the CVS ExtraCare machine that typically prints out coupons for Gold Emblem products as well.  Not the party type?  Don’t worry, whether you snacks for lunches or late night snacks, CVS Gold Emblem products have you covered there too! If you don’t have time, CVS even offer on-line ordering!  Check it out!

Breastfeeding on the Go with Bravado – 5 Tips for the Breastfeeding Mom

September 16, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 11 Comments

*Disclosure: We received the product(s) discussed in this post free of charge. Thoughts and opinions are 100% ours.

When I first became a mom and started to breastfeed, I had no idea what I was really in for on this journey.  Based on what everyone kept telling me I felt like I was going to be stuck in the house for our entire nursing relationships. A Bravado study revealed that only 38% of moms are extremely comfortable traveling with a baby under one while breastfeeding. Despite this, more than 53% do actually travel.  For me, thanks to some very amazing friends, I learned that I didn’t really ever need to be home, even if I was breastfeeding.

Here’s 5 Tips That Helped Us Breastfed On The Go:

1. Find an amazing nursing bra.  Your breasts need great support, but additionally, you need to be able to access them quickly (Hello, crying baby!).  There’s nothing worse than trying to fumble around with your bra when you are in public and your tiny baby is screaming at the top of their lungs. Bravado makes over a dozen different bras, and you’re sure to find the right one.

2.  Do the Pull Up, Pull Down method.  This is where you wear two shirts, typically a tank top underneath your normal shirt. A breastfeeding tank top is even easier! Pull your normal shirt up, while pulling your tank top down, exposing your breast.  This way the side of your breast, your stomach, and side all stay covered, making you feel more comfortable.

3.  Practice in the mirror.  This may sound silly, but trust me it’s not.  Someone recommended this to me when I first had the baby and I’m so thankful they did.  I tried without the mirror and freaked out that everyone could see my entire breast.  When I looked in the mirror, I realized very little skin was actually exposed.  I learned that looking down on myself, it appeared that much more skin was showing than actually was showing.  Practicing in front of the mirror allowed me to gain confidence in how much skin I saw versus how much someone else didn’t see.

4.  Learn to breastfeed while babywearing.   This for us was a GAME CHANGER.  Not only did I feel it was more discreet than the shirt method, but I could actually still move around and get things done while she was breastfeeding.  At the mall?  No problem.  Just feed her and continue shopping while I did.  I’ve found, personally, that soft structured carriers like Boba carrier, are the best for these situations, but I have seen other types of carriers used successfully as well.

5.  On the go without baby?  Invest in a great pump to make sure that you keep up with expressing milk to continue to tell your body to produce the milk that your child is taking in while you are away. A hand pump is great for short trips, or a double electric pump for longer trips.

Spaghetti Squash Shrimp Alfredo

September 16, 2014 by Larisha Campbell 1 Comment

Everyday Andrew and I try to eat better, more real foods.  We’ve been incorporating more ways to eat less processed foods and more fruits and vegetables.  I’ll be the first to admit that this is not the easiest thing, especially for Andrew.  I’m a lot more open-minded, but he struggles.  Being someone that is already extremely picky with his food, he just can’t wrap his head around things.  One of those things, was this Spaghetti Squash Shrimp Alfredo.

I’ll be honest, looking at it, you aren’t really sure what to think, especially when someone presents it as alfredo. I mean, alfredo is white, this looks more like polenta.  Even I was a bit nervous to try it, but hey, that’s the joy of trying new foods right?

Luckily, this actually tastes really good!

We’ve been eating spaghetti squash for awhile now.  It’s so easy to make.  While it takes long to cook than traditional pasta, it’s just as easy.  And on top of the easiness, it’s more nutritional!

Ingredients:
1 spaghetti squash, organic perfered
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, organic
1 cup heavy whipping cream, organic
1 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2lb pre-cooked shrimp, wild caught

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Slice spaghetti squash in half.  Cover with olive oil and sprinkle black pepper across.  Place flesh side down on baking sheet.  Bake for 45 minutes.  Using a fork, remove all flesh from skin.

In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.  Add heavy cream and stir to combine. Stir in Parmesan cheese.  Add shrimp and cooked squash, gently stir until very well combined.  Serve immediately.  Store leftovers in fridge and eat within 3 days.
