Aden & Anais Bamboo Dream Blanket Giveaway

December 6, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 11 Comments

Welcome to the Aden & Anais Bamboo Dream Blanket Giveaway!
I have wanted one of these for Baby Skibbles for awhile and I’m super excited to be sharing this with you today.
Hosted by Mommys Craft Obsession
Sponsored by Aden & Anais
From Mommys Craft Obsession
When it comes to swaddling your little one and providing them with the softest and coziest baby blankets, what brand comes to mind? Most moms would agree that it would be Aden & Anais. When I first learned about Aden & Anais I was anxious to get my hands on one of their swaddles for Little Mister, even though by then he was well out of the stage of swaddling! Once I bought my first Aden & Anais (or more commonly known around the mom community as “A&A”), I got addicted. Before I knew it I had about 5 swaddle blankets for Little Mister including a couple of their Bamboo Swaddles. I had been told that their Bamboo Swaddles were heavenly, but I had just no idea how much I would love them until I had one in my hands. The description that comes to mind is “silky butter”. I know, that sounds ridiculous, but there really are no words to describe how luxurious it felt!
In 2003 the founder of Aden & Anais, Raegan, received news that she was expecting her first child. She sought out to find some muslin swaddle blankets for her unborn daughter, a parent ‘staple’ in Australia where she is from, and was disappointed to not find a single swaddle blanket that fit her needs. They were all either to thick or to small, and she was stunned that New York moms had yet to experience a swaddle blanket similar to what they had back home in Australia. In 2006 Aden & Anais was born, bringing high quality muslin swaddle blankets to the parents of the United States. Aden & Anais blankets are now sold in over 60 stores around the world.

My Open Letter to American Signature Furniture

December 4, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 6 Comments

Dear American Signature Furniture,

I don’t typically (okay, I never have) write something like this on our site.  However, I feel like, despite my best efforts to make all attempts to rectify the situation, American Signature Furniture has let me down.  Horribly, let me down.

Let me explain.

A few weeks ago, Andrew and I officially got to move into our house after all our renovations had been completed.  Naturally, we were extremely excited to start getting new furniture.  We walked into our local American Signature Furniture store in Moorestown, NJ and were greeted by a warm, and welcoming gentleman named Ray.  He was awesome.  Not one of those pushy salesmen, but there when we needed to ask questions.  Turns out, we didn’t know our measurements at that time, so we needed to come back.  And we did.  We sought out Ray and picked out the pieces that we wanted to purchase that day.  Two couches and a love seat for our family room.  Ray went above and beyond to get us just what we wanted.  We set up the delivery for the following Wednesday and left the store extremely excited.  Unfortunately, that’s where our excitement ends.

That Wednesday, our 3 pieces of furniture were delivered.  Before the delivery company left, the main guy informed me that one of the pieces had a significant scratch on it.  He marked on his paper that a new one needed to be delivered, asked for me to sign the paper, and left. Now, mind you, the entire time I’m chasing our one-year old around the house.  Fast forward a few hours to where I was able to stop chasing our daughter.  I noticed that not only did the one couch have a scratch, but actually they ALL did.  And not just a little scratch.  I’m not that picky.  There were also tears on one of the couches.  More so, once Andrew got home, he immediately reminded me that in college he used to deliver furniture and could tell that we were sent USED furniture.  USED FURNITURE! That I just paid full price for!
He showed me where the arm rests were at different points of “fluffiness” (for lack of a better word) and when you sat on the loveseat, one side actually sank in (it was broken).  We called the local number and the customer service rep was extremely rude.  She even told us that we should have pointed all of this out to the delivery company, despite your policy being 7-days to report any issues.

We actually decided based on her communication with us and the problems we were having that we just wanted our money returned and we would go elsewhere.  She informed us that they would pick up the furniture on the next Wednesday. I was so angry that I actually e-mailed the company to which I had to follow up because I never received a response.  They couldn’t even locate my e-mail.

Fast forward to that day, the delivery guys came (they were two different guys than the first time) and were on their last piece of furniture.  They were going out the door when they hit my door frame and actually dented and took a chunk of the door frame out.  I called the lady back that reached out, as well as the local store.   The local store said that the delivery company would call us.  They haven’t.  We called the local store again a few days ago to tell them we haven’t heard from the delivery company.  Again, they said they would put a note in for them to call us.  Again, we haven’t received any communication.

Yesterday, I was finally able to speak with the lady from the corporate office (from the e-mail) and she assured me the delivery company would call yesterday.  Guess what?  They didn’t.  No call phone from anyone.

I’m assuming at this point that my situation is not going to get rectified.  Yes, we received our money back for our returned purchase, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that my brand new door still has dents and a chunk missing. Poor customer service on the corporate end takes away from the amazing service we received by an associate looking to increase his sales.  So not only did you disappoint our family, you disappointed a salesman who lost a sale for something he had no control over.

About the company: Comfy Joey was founded by Ayesha when her second child was just a few months old.  Her mission to provide comfortable and fashionable baby carriers for babywearing families. Comfy Joey is famous for their comfortable pouches, but have recently added ring slings to their family.

I’ve been babywearing since Baby Skibbles was a week old.  We started with a wrap and have been using a SSC (soft-structured carrier) since she was about three months old.  I have been wanting to branch out and try new types of babywearing, but I have always been nervous.  With the holidays right around the corner, I was searching for something more elegant than our SSC.  I had been hearing a lot of Comfy Joey ring slings and decided to go check out their website for myself.  Then, I saw it.  The most beautiful sling I had ever seen.  It is Comfy Joey’s Smokey Quartz Exquisite Silk ring sling.  On the site it’s described in three words: glamours, sophisticated, and elegant.  I couldn’t have said it better myself.

It’s a soft smokey taupe silk sling that have a shimmery glitz of a golden undertone. It’s even more beautiful in person and I couldn’t be happier.

I really hadn’t the first clue about slings, so I was thrilled when there was a video DVD included with the purchase to help me figure everything out from threading the rings to how to wear my babe. Comfy Joey has all the bases covered. There’s even a form to fill out in case there would ever be a recall.

Baby Skibbles was incredibly comfortable inside of our sling. As soon as I put her in, she laid her head down.  She was so close to me, I was instantly taken back to when she was a baby. Our Comfy Joey silk ring sling is perfect to dress up or dress down and makes the absolute perfect ring sling for the holidays.

Damhorst Toys Small Puzzle Stool Review & Giveaway

November 27, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 11 Comments

About the company: Don and Carol Damhorst starting making unique handmade wooden puzzle in 1971 for their children, Kris and Megin.  Over the years, friends and family started asking for their own, and from their Don and Carol started selling in speciality shops and Art & Crafts fairs.  Today Kris and Megin continue to run the business.  Their main shop is now in Hermann, Missouri and are happily continuing the tradition of their parents.  These puzzle teach children perception, problem solving, and patience.

Baby Skibbles’ name is so special to us and I have spent tons of time looking for the best personalized gifts for her. When I first learned about Damhorst Toys, I was instantly in love. Rocking chairs, puzzle stools, coat racks, and so much more, they literally have a personalized gift for every special child.  I was lucky enough to be able to review their small “Original Name Puzzle Stool”. When it arrived at our house, I fell even more in love than what I saw on the website! The wood is extremely high quality, durable, and very well made.

Name and personal information hidden for Baby Skibbles protection.

On the bottom you can engrave birth information or a personalized message.  We went with her full name, date of birth, weight and length.  On the top, for the small stool, there is an eight letter maximum or seven letter maximum if you have two names (like June Bug).  The stools are 9 inches off the ground and are 9 x 12 inches on the top.  All finishes are water based and non-toxic!  I absolutely love this! It’s truly a unique children’s gift for the holidays.

All of the letters are removable, allowing for children to actually try to get them back in, learn their letters, and more.  Baby Skibbles loves standing on the stool, as she can just about reach the counter, and she is already trying to fit the puzzle pieces back in their correct spot.  I love that not only is this a high quality, practical tool for her to use, but it’s also an amazing learning opportunity for her as well. Damhorst Toys has surpassed our expectations!

BUY IT:  To check out the puzzle stools and tons of other fabulous personalized toys, just visit their website HERE. Damhorst Toys offers Free Shipping and Free Gift Wrapping for the continental U.S.

Nostalgia Electrics Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker Review & Giveaway

November 27, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 14 Comments

About the company: Nostalgia Electrics makes small electric appliances that are innovative and get consumers excited about cooking.  They are always looking for new inventions and encourage inventors to contact them! Nostalgia Electrics ships to more than 30 different countries worldwide.

I have seen Nostalgia Electrics at many different stores.  From popcorn to cotton candy machines, fondue to cake pop makers, they make some incredible appliances.  I was thrilled to be able to review their Vintage Collection Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker.

I took everything out of the box and flipped through the manual.  I was so excited when I got to the back and there were actual recipes right there.  Simple recipes like chocolate and vanilla to cookie dough and even sorbets.  I was like a little kid on Christmas ready to get started right away.

I followed the recipe, including, cooking and chilling the recipe.  Then, I filled up the aluminum canister with the ingredients, added the dasher, and placed it inside the wooden canister. After that, I just had to put the lid on, add the motor on top, fill with ice and salt, and plug in!  That’s it.  It was incredibly easy! The motor does all the churning of the ice cream for you. In 30 minutes, ice cream was ready. Each batch makes approximately four quarts, though I’m pretty sure only 3 quarts make it into the freezer!

It was absolutely amazing homemade chocolate ice cream.  I was blown away by how absolutely simple it was to use the Nostalgia Electrics ice cream maker.  It was simple to follow the directions and a very durable appliance. It reminded me of homemade ice cream at my great-grandmothers house growing up, which is such an amazing experience to be able to think of while using.  I couldn’t be happier to have this and definitely think it’s not only great to have for a special treat, but making some for the holidays will be the perfect treat for your guests.

Watch a short clip of the Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker in progress!

Combi All-in-One Activity Walker #holidaygiftguide

November 26, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 18 Comments

About the company: Combi was started in 1957 in Tokyo, Japan. This Japan-based company has carefully cultivated a brand that is firm and growing in customer trust. Combi is short for “combination”, referring to the combination of mother and child. For over 50 years now, the brand has driven forward as a leader in the juvenile products industry.  Remaining true to its core commitment to establish healthy living environments for babies.  Today, Combi is working hard to provide safe and original products for nearing every setting of a child’s life.

We love our Combi high chair, so when I was given the opportunity to review the All-in-One activity walker, I was really excited.  I knew a local mom who had one for her baby and Baby Skibbles absolutely loved playing in it. This incredible entertainment center has a car theme complete with steering wheel and horn.  Once older the hood can be removed to create a large surface for food and/or drinks.

When we got it, Andrew was busy, so I was left to put it together myself.  If you had read previous posts, this rarely happens because I always get confused. I opened the box and felt confident I could do it by myself!  The directions included pictures and seemed easy.  And it was!  I was able to get it all together in about 10 minutes!

Just snap the legs into the top and bottoms bases.  Push in the wheels, mirrors, and handrails, and it’s 80% done!
The last step is just locating the battery compartment under the hood, adding two AA batteries, and then snapping the hood onto the top.  Then it’s ready to go!  It was so easy to put together.  The activity walker has a three-position height adjustment and doubles as either a walker or jumper with the lock option.
It has a super plush and comfy seat with a cushioned headrest. All of the included toys are well made and nurable.  The mirror features a spinning wheel with textured surfaces that are great for teething.
The Combi entertainment center comes in black, yellow, pink, blue, and red, as seen here.  It can safely be used with children up to 25 pounds and the entire entertainment center only weighs 14lbs.

See Baby Skibbles in action by watching the video below!

Once again Combi has surpassed our expectations by making an amazing product!  We absolutely love it!

BUY IT: The Combi All-in-One Activity Center retails for $99.99 and can be purchased directly from Amazon.com by clicking on the picture below.

Bona Hardwood Floor Mop Review

November 21, 2013 by Larisha Campbell 1 Comment

About the company: Bona dates back to 1894 when Wilhelm Edner opened a small grocery store in Sweden.  In 1910, floor wax was introduce and over the last 90 years, the company has developed into one that leads the industry.

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Bona Hardwood Floor Mop, along with the Stone, Tile, & Laminate Cleaner.  I was super excited because we recently moved into our house and were looking something that would make our hardwood floor shine, without killing my back. When our Bona Mop arrived, I opened the box and everything I needed was right there.  The directions are printed on the box for putting the mop together, but it’s actually amazingly easy and took less than 2 minutes.
Just snap the handle together, attached the reusable, machine washable pad, and snap in the cartridge and you are ready to go! I love that it’s machine washable.  After becoming more eco-friendly this is something extremely important to me.  I’ve washed the pad a few times now and it looks as good as brand new every time.

The Hardwood Floor Mop that I received retails for $39.99 and the refill cartridges are $9.49 each.  The cartridge is 33oz and by spraying the trigger coming out to clean your floor and leave it sparkling.  And it lasts!  I was able to clean my floors over and over again, way more than I could have imagined with the same cartridge.  The cleaner is waterborne, non-toxic, and environmentally responsible! I am in love with this, not only for our entire house, but especially for our kitchen!  Baby Skibbles is constantly dropping and picking up food and I love knowing there aren’t harsh chemicals going onto her food.
The Stone, Tile, & Laminate cleaner is just as amazing. We never had tile before and were nervous about cleaning it, but the Bona cleaner is perfect and had our floors looking amazing.  We are absolutely in love with our new mop and cleaner!

BUY IT: Bona products can be purchased at Wal-mart, Bed, Bath, & Beyond and Kroger stores.  You can also purchase the products directly on the Bona website by going HERE.  Use coupon code BONAWP from now until December 31, 2013 for FREE SHIPPING.

We love Tiny Love products.  They are made with love, but they are also made with quality and are a brand we continue to stand behind time and time again. We were looking to add a new and fun toy for Baby Skibbles first birthday, when we saw Follow Me Fiona.  I was immediately in love.  Crinkly ears, movement, fun sounds and more, I knew that Baby Skibbles was absolutely going to love it!  And I was right!

When I first opened Fiona to give to Baby Skibbles, she was completely in love with figuring out what exactly I had.  When I gave Fiona to her, she just looked at me and smiled.  She loves the crinkly ears.  What’s even more hilarious is that if Fiona isn’t played with for a little while, she barks.  Baby Skibbles has started mocking Fiona and will bark back at her.  It’s absolutely hysterical!

Fiona is designed for children 6-18 months. Fiona triggers babies to begin moving before they begin crawling and then eventually start to reach out and crawl.  By just gently touching, Fiona moves encouraging your little one to follow.

We absolutely love Follow Me Fiona.  Tiny Love has made yet another awesome toy!
