I absolutely love the idea of having a mirror in my car. Being able to see the baby, especially when she’s not in the best of moods, gives me the peace of mind that every mom is looking for in the car. Unfortunately, the one that I bought for my car was very under subpar. It was horrible. It was hard to install, I never really got it properly installed, and it constantly fell down. Nothing worse than trying to keep an eye on your baby when it just falls over when you take a turn. I was given the chance to review Brica’s brand new Baby In-Sight Magical Firefly Mirror and I was excited to try it out. I’d reviewed their Phone Pod before, so I knew the quality of their products is high. When it arrived, I was amazed. Beyond amazed really. I mean is this not the coolest car mirror you’ve seen?

I took it out of the packaging (which is completely recyclable) and hit the power button. There are two moods that let you have it with or without the lights.

I gave it to Baby Skibbles and she loved it. She had a lot of run with the remote, but played with the mirror for awhile too!

Now, it was time to really test it out though. First came installation. EASY! I followed the included instructional booklet and it provides three different ways to install. I found what was best for our car and it described exactly what to do. I had it installed in under 5 minutes. Doing it in under 5 minutes is a big accomplishment for me! Next, was would it stay up when I drove around curves. And the answer is YES! I haven’t had any problems with it.

What’s amazing about this mirror is that it actually has lights and sounds and comes with a remote control that you can control and easily clips onto your sun visor. The lights make patterned shapes with the lights as the music plays. There are two different modes, entertaining or soothing, that play up to 24 minutes of continuous music.

Lastly, it’s also very important for me to state that the mirror is also shatter-resistant and the mirror is specially made for a distortion free image. It has also been crash tested.

I’m absolutely in love with the Brica Baby In-Sight Magical Firefly Auto Mirror. Right before we received ours, Baby Skibbles has been given us a horrible time to even get in her carseat. It has made me dread going anywhere because I hate to hear her cry, even if it is just for a second until we start driving. Having the mirror, has given her something to pay attention to and has helped tremendously. I have recommended it already to a few of my “mommy friends” that were looking for a solution to their children’s crying in their carseats and I hope that it helps you as well! This is hands down the best baby auto mirror I’ve seen.

Tiny Love Magical Night 3-n-1 Mobile Review & Giveaway

Ever since Baby Skibbles was about a week old, I’ve kept a night light on in the room (we co-sleep). It was the perfect way for me to still be able to see to change her diaper or nurse without fully turning on the light. As she’s grown older, the night continued to work for these reasons, but I learned the hard way that what I had mistaken as plastic, was actually a glass light when a now mobile Baby Skibbles pulled it down and it hit something and shattered. I quickly scooped her up and was thankful she wasn’t hurt, but now realized that I needed something that would still give great light during the night, but be much safer for my precious baby. Luckily, Tiny Love just came out with their Magical Night 3-in-1 Mobile Projector and it was just what I had been looking for…and so much more.

When the box arrived, Baby Skibbles seemed really interested as to what was inside this bright and colorful box. She actually got upset with me when I took her away to try to open it (so we let her play with it for awhile–ever find it amazing how obsessed kids are with boxes!).

There were a total of seven pieces in the box and everything was super easy to put together. It can convert from a mobile to a music box to a night lamp to last from birth to toddlerhood (and beyond). It’s gender neutral and it’s fun animals and nature theme will fit into any decor.

The back comes off for placement of batteries (not included). I was really surprised how long the batteries lasted! We have played it for HOURS and it’s still going strong! For the mobile, just snap the neck in and attach the back and you are ready it go. It’s amazingly easy.

If you are using it as a mobile, the shade easily fits into the neck and then each of the three animals loop into the shade with velcro that can be removed later.

One your baby is a little older there is a blue rod that is hidden in the back that pops up and the shade fits on top of that to make the night lamp.

There are tons of amazing features in the Magical Night Baby Mobile too! There is a mute button in case you want the lights to play, without music, as well as increase and decrease volume buttons, as located on the front left side of the main body. On the front right side are three themes of music, Nature, Classic, and Lullaby. Each button plays three different songs and each lasts for a total of 30 minutes before turning itself off. On the right side of the main body of the mobile are four function, off, music without lights or movement, music with lights and movement, music with movement, but no light. There truly is not a way that I could think of that isn’t covered with these different options.

The Magical Night 3-in-1 Baby Mobile Projector can be a baby mobile, a night lamp, or a music box, and is sure to last your baby well into their toddler years. We adore this product.

We still have it set up as the mobile because she just loves looking at it and playing with it before bed time. It has brought up so many cute moments together and I’m so lucky to watch her continue to grow with such an awesome product.

As with all of our Tiny Love products, we couldn’t be happier. We absolutely adore their newest product and can’t wait to see what their design next. We are sure it’s going to be just as fabulous. I can seriously only think of one suggestion and that would be creating a remote to go with the mobile. Just for those times where you aren’t in the room and you don’t want to turn on the light to see, it would be great to have a remote to turn it on from a distance. We definitely will be adding this to our list of amazing baby shower gifts.

We knew as soon as we moved into the house that we were going to be doing some renovations. We both absolutely hated the tile in the entryway and we wanted hardwood floors throughout the first floor. What we didn’t want was one of those huge dumpsters sitting out in front of our house, taking up a ton of room. Then, one day, I saw a commercial on TV for Waste Management’s Bagster Bag. I knew this was going to be the perfect solution.

The Bagster Bag is a new service Waste Management offers for home owners that are doing small renovation projects to easily remove waste from their homes without have to have a huge dumpster sitting outside their house. It’s as simple as 3 easy steps. Buy. Fill. Gone. You can buy that Bagster Bag online or at your local home improvement retailers. Once you have it home, fill it up with up to 3,300 pounds of debris or waste. Then schedule your collection on-line or by phone for it to be gone. It’s that simple!

It seemed simple enough, but usually when things seem simple to me, they usually aren’t. Bagster proved me wrong. The bag showed up to our door with instructions printed right on the bag that were easy to understand and follow. It went over what you could and couldn’t throw into the bag, where you should place the bag, and what would need to be done for pick-up. For example, you can throw in any construction and household waste (no food though). Things that you cannot put inside the bag include appliances, electronics, batteries, fuel, paint, tires, toxic or hazardous materials, and more. You can find a full list of what is and is not acceptable on the back of the back or on-line.

To get started, we first needed to follow some simple instructions. Like creating rigid sides by standing inside the bag and folding sides down halfway. Then we had to decide where to put it. Bagster bag can go on your yard, driveway, or inside of a fence, but must be within 16 feet of the street, alley, or edge of driveway. There was an attached damage waiver that needed to be signed since we decided to put it on our driveway. To do this we also had to make sure our driveway was 12 feet wide to drive on and that there was 18 feet overhead clearance from wires, trees, and structures. Andrew was pretty excited about this because this meant he got to cut down some tree branches with his new chainsaw.

Filling was super easy. The instructions stated to fill with the heavy materials on the bottom and bring up the sides as you fill. The most important thing here is that the yellow lifting straps needed to be able to connect above the bag so they could lift it during pick up. The only difficult part is not really knowing if you are close to that 3,300 pound limit. They do give a rough guide saying that one bag can hold approximately 900 square feet of carpet or tile, OR 47 sheets of drywall, OR 1 cubic yard of heavy materials like brick, concrete, dirt, or stucco. Below are just some other views of our bag.

When it came time to schedule a pick-up, I got on the website and completed the seven extremely easy steps. I’ve done a lot of on-line ordering in the past and this was by far one of the most simple websites I have ever used. It took less than 10 minutes from start to finish. They give you a 3 day window of when the bag is going to be picked up. I got an e-mail confirmation after setting up the pick-up, as well as e-mails letting me know the day they were actually coming, and another e-mail letting me know when it had been picked up! Such great service.

Being able to do a small renovation project and not have to worry about a huge dumpster was a relief to me. We enjoyed having a small bag on our driveway that we could use as needed and then schedule for pick up. It was such a breeze. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to be home when it was collected, but when we got home, it was gone, no debris left behind, and our driveway was still in perfect condition! I’ve already recommend this to several of my friends and know for our next home project we will be doing this again!

Now, I’m not going to lie, when it all arrived in three HUGE boxes, I knew we had our work cut out for us. There were a ton of pieces and everything had to be put together. Lucky for me, Andrew is pretty handy with tools, so we got to work on it right away. It took a full day to get everything together and up on the walls. We started by taking out all the pieces for the 3-Drawer Mobile File Cabinet, and putting them out according to the pre-labeled letters. The instructions were amazingly easy to follow for the entire project and I’m thankful that Closetmaid took a little extra time to put together a great instruction manual for each piece.

It was time to get started putting the shelving units up. We started with the bookshelf kit component and then moved on the the home office kit. While Andrew was putting together the system, I was with the baby, so every time I came back to see his progress, I got even more excited.

Once he figured out the bookshelf kit, the home office kit went up very quickly. He said that it was a breeze once he figured out exactly how to do it all. He also said that he liked that the kit included both screws for drywall and studs, so that no matter what you needed, it was all included.

I was actually in the room when the desk portion of the system was going up and I immediately thought something was wrong when he attached it. The legs didn’t reach the ground! We got a good laugh out of my inexperience putting things together, because he just simply unscrewed the bottom portion until it did touch the ground. I loved that no matter the height there is an adjustment to go down to the floor.

Finally, it was all put together and ready for me to use. I am beyond thrilled with the quality and craftsmanship that went into making this amazing ShelfTrack Elite System. It’s truly an incredible kit that will make and home office even better.

Baby-BeeHaven Swingin’ Smart (Swing Seat Cover) Review & Giveaway

Remember going to the park when you were younger? You were sooo excited to be there that you had a huge smile and went running up to the swings. Sat down and then immediately jumped right back up! OUCH! It was soooo hot!!! I’ve been dying to take Baby Skibbles to the park, but scared at the same time because I didn’t want to burn her little heiny. I also knew that she has been putting everything into her mouth and didn’t want her chewing on the dirty seat or rails. What was I to do? Finding Baby-BeeHaven was the answer!

I was sent their awesome infant swing seat cover. It’s made from a super soft, plush cotton fabric and comes inside a reusable, matching travel bag. The design is adorable and very gender neutral. It’s even machine washable so I can just throw it in the wash to get rid of the germs! The outside packaging is recyclable and had the directions printed on the inside making this a great Eco-friendly designed gift. I didn’t have to look at the packaging to figure out how to use it. It was really easy to figure out and I had it on and ready to go within 2 minutes. We put her in it and she immediately tried to chew on the sides. Thankfully we didn’t have to worry, she was safe!

The front and back both have loops for you to hang toys from which is an awesome idea (toys not included). The swing, mixed with the toy options that you can put on, give for endless play time.

The look and laughs that we got from her in the swing were amazing. This product is worth every penny and more knowing the ease I had and the fun she had. We have already recommend it to several friends and will continue to do so!! Love, love, love our new park accessory!! I keep it in the trunk of my car for all my impromptu park trips I make. This is definitely something I don’t want to be mad I forgot while we are out and about.

Homemade Banana Avocado Popsicles Recipe

We do baby-led weaning (to see our post on this go here) with Baby Skibbles which means that she pretty much eats whatever we are having. However, since she started teething I have been trying to give her more frozen options so the coldness helps with her pain. It’s virtually impossible to try to find a “healthy popsicle” on the market, so after talking with a close friend I decided to just make my own. I have no idea why I had never thought or done this before, even for us. It’s incredibly simple to do!

I decided to make Banana Avocado popsicles because it’s just an all around good source of food for the baby and before you look at the bowl below and think, “EWW, Gross!”, just bare with me. Remember that babies really don’t know what “should” and “should not” go together when it comes to food. They have a pretty open mind, so they will eat sweet potatoes for breakfast and eggs and hamburger for dinner and not think twice. However, this combination really isn’t that bad. Avocados don’t have a really strong flavor and the banana just make it sweet, so it’s a great combination.

RECIPE:
1 Ripe Avocado
1 Ripe Banana
1 cup Plain Grass-Fed Yogurt (or Organic)

Directions- Cut avocado and banana into chunks (no particular size, just want to make it easier to mash). Roughly mash them together. Add the yogurt and continue to mash everything together until most chunks are gone. *Depending on the size popsicle containers you are using, you can just add more yogurt if you need a bit more.
Place instead popsicle holders and place in freezer until set. Serve!

I put them all in my Tupperware popsicle holders and let them freeze up. If you don’t have popsicle holders you can buy small plastic cups and popsicle sticks.

Baby Skibbles wasn’t sure at first, but in the end wound up loving these popsicles. They are incredibly easy to make, healthy, and help with teething which is always a plus in my book! Hope you enjoy!

I had the opportunity to review with Sue from Pink Lemonade Shop a few months ago when I tested out her postpartum mama cloth after having Baby Skibbles (you can read that review here). Since I was so in love with them, I was naturally beyond thrilled when she contacted me asking me to review her newest product, reusable nursing pads. I have been nursing Baby Skibbles for 7 months now. I feel beyond blessed to be giving her such an amazing gift, but I’ll admit, there are some “accessories” that you just need to help you be confident nursing, especially in public. Washable breast pads are absolutely one of those things. Sue sent one of each of the pairs she currently offers in the mail with an adorable little bow on top.

She currently offers hand-dyed (by her) pads in either Bamboo Velous with Wool backs or PUL backs. While the PUL ones are slimmer than the wool, they were both incredibly thin. The absorbent layers inside are made from Bamboo Fleece.

Now, I don’t have a problem with my boobs leaking at this time, however, I did in the beginning and even now, when I have a nice event or somewhere else I’m going to, I do typically wear reusable breast pads just in case. I mean how embarrassing would it be to be standing at a wedding talking to someone you jut met and then you look down and notice your entire shirt is wet. Not good!

I did want to put the pads to the test even though I know I’m not leaking and to do that I got out the babies medicine dropper. And slowly released about a teaspoon of water into the pads. You couldn’t see any of it! You also can’t see the pads through my shirt, which is awesome because I’ve had that problem before as well with other brands.

Lastly, and honestly most importantly, they feel amazing. They are incredibly soft. And the durability is definitely there. I prefer the wool over the PUL just because they are softer; however most are my go to washable nursing pads that I grab when going anywhere now!
