About the company: I See Me! opened in May 2000 and set out to provide the highest quality, most personalized children’s book available. My Very Own Name was their first book. The goal was to produce an educational book that teaches children to recognize letters and spell their names. Celebrities like Jessica Alba and Brooke Shields love these books. Their mission today is to increase self-esteem in children through personalized books celebrating their uniqueness.
I really disliked going to amusement parks and the sort growing up because while all my friend were getting keychains and cups with their names on them, I couldn’t. I mean seriously, have you ever met another Larisha before? Probably not. While I wanted the baby to have a unique name, I knew that this would be a problem for her too. Luckily, many companies are creating unique, personalized gifts, which are awesome because now my daughter can have cool things with her name on them too. However, some of the gifts I’ve seen are sort of cheesy and I’ve been looking for something better.
I See Me, Inc. reached out and asked us to review their personalized “My Very Own World Adventure” book. I was slightly skeptical just because I didn’t want a boring, generic book that had her name in one or two places, but everything I saw on their site looked great, so I just went for it! I was in for such a great surprise when I actually received the book. It’s beyond amazing. It does an incredible job at teaching the baby so many things.
The book starts out with a dedication page with the baby’s name and birthdate and a little note from Andrew and I. Then the story starts with beautiful illustrations and talks about going on a magic carpet ride. Every page from then on has a letter of her name (in order) that reveals more of the name and the person that she’s “visiting” is from a place that starts with that letter of her name. S is for Saudi Arabia. What’s even more unique about this book is that the artist who illustrated that page is actually from the country it says! It goes through every letter of her first and last name and ends with a story about everyone coming together for world peace.
After the story, there’s a world map that highlights all the countries that were talked about, followed by information about each artists that drew for the series.
I absolutely love the story line and creating a better world for everyone, as well as her learning about wehre different places are and traditions in that country. I’m so pleased that Baby Skibbles will grow up with a book like this and I’m excited to purchase more in the I See Me series of books.
It’s also really durable. The baby was paying on the floor and grabbed it and I really thought should would rip the page, but it didn’t rip! I was so happy. They even threw in a placemat which will be great in the next few months when she starts eating at the dinner table instead of her high chair. It’s super cute and girly and is also personalized. We love it and are excited to be able to use it soon.
